POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Dispatcher at Chiquita in Wilmington, Delaware, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our fruit orders reach customers on time and in perfect condition. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Dispatcher at Chiquita in Wilmington, Delaware, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our fruit orders reach customers on time and in perfect condition. Your main responsibilities will involve scheduling appointments, managing fruit inventory with precision, and maintaining high standards in customer service. By joining our team, you'll be directly involved in the supply chain process, working alongside a dynamic team to meet the needs of our customers and ensure the freshest produce.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule appointment slots in our system for fruit orders, including Southbound trans-loads and Northbound pickups.
- Assign fruit to orders 24 hours in advance, following FIFO (First In, First Out) principles and any specific customer requirements.
- Assist drivers by checking them in and out for “live load” pickups at the warehouse.
- Communicate with the operational team on priority SKU requirements for vessel discharge planning, ensuring efficient order fulfillment.
- Reconcile orders shipped versus requested daily, reallocating unclaimed or canceled fruit to minimize waste.
- Coordinate with Customer Service and Accounting to reassign any fruit rejected by customers, ensuring inventory accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Place temperature recorders in shipments based on specific requirements and ensure clear instructions for temperature settings are communicated to carriers.
- Collaborate with the Port Operation Superintendent to manage USDA/CBP holds, releasing containers as appropriate.
- Assist with monthly physical inventory counts and support inventory reconciliation reporting.
- File all relevant documents (check-in sheets, pick slips, loading sheets, bills of lading, etc.) associated with dispatched fruit orders.
- Support management by preparing reports or fulfilling additional requests as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service, container, or trucking dispatch preferred.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree (in progress or completed) is a plus.
- Strong team player with a proactive work ethic, goal-oriented mindset, and customer service focus.
- Demonstrated multitasking skills in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with a problem-solving approach.
- Proficient in computer systems and applications.
- Capable of following instructions from multiple sources and managing priorities effectively.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Bilingual (English, Spanish) is a plus.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
- Primarily a desk-based role in a temperature-controlled office.
- Regular use of office equipment such as calculators, keyboards, and telephones.
- Occasional coordination with team members on-site, involving exposure to an environment with heavy equipment.

Compensation: $21.00 per hour
